Students of all ages are invited to Columbia Memorial Space Center to learn about space, to participate in engineering design challenges, and to talk to young rocket engineers from Virgin Galactic, The SpaceShipCompany and other local space and tech companies. High school students will be able to meet rocket scientists, and learn about the variety of paths to industry and learn about propulsion, composite design, and more!
NASA Astronaut Nicole Stott will be at Yuri's Night Kids to talk about her flight on the Space Shuttle as well as her long duration stay on the International Space Station in 2009. During her time in space she even got to do a spacewalk!
Nicole was an engineer working at NASA when she was selected to become an astronaut. During her time in space she also got to help install and run on the C.O.L.B.E.R.T treadmill.
Now retired from NASA, Nicole combines her artwork and spaceflight experience to inspire creative thinking about solutions to our planetary challenges, to raise awareness of the surprising interplay between science and art, and to promote the amazing work being done every day in space to improve life right here on Earth.
